Not Slack Like Us

Yeah, we have been a little slow on hitting the upload button here, sorry. However, these guys have been nice and busy.

Made You Look has been a two year project that has bought together the best of Australian and New Zealand snowboarders. The guys at Reason Films dropped their much anticipated teaser last week.

What You Missed

While most of the snowboard world has been fascinated by some event in Vancouver, others have been busy locking down their video parts.

Check out the People Crew's blog and Jeremy Jones Glob for what you have missed while you watched people do twirls.

Where The Wind Blows

Two events are already haunting us this season for not being there, number one is opening day at Mt Baker with their deep snow warning, number two is the Ari Marcopouilos film Where the Wind Blows which is his tribute to Craig Kelly.

If you can make it to the Berkeley in SFO on the 18th of November do as you don't want to be gathering a list of missed outs like us.

When One Teaser Is Not Enough

Try a week or teasers, the big B are having a teaser week on various websites around the globe to help hype up their new movie. Us here at the Woods are pretty amped to see Brad Kramer's first film since leaving MDP, plus it will be interesting to see how it has come together as supposedly a lot has been shot on the Canon 5D Mark 2.

This is the "banger" teaser as without bangers in a shred film all you have is a sweet music playlist.

For those who didn't know the Car Danchi series follows a group of Japanese riders who live in their cars for the season in search of "Japow".

A Day With Justin Bennee

The guys over at Videograss and Snowboarder magazine are hoping to make your Saturday (or Sunday in some parts) a little more rad with behind the scene clips of the Videograss debut film. To kick off the series they follow Justin Bennee around Brighton for a day, like the write up says "it is not what tricks you do, but how you do them".

Hit Mr Bennee above to check the clip. Also for the product crew out there note his Jordan inspired 2010 Nike outerwear.

We posted about the how VBS.TV had the full film of legendary shred flick Snowboarders In Exile. Well it is worth revisiting VBS as they also have 3 episodes that talks to the guys behind the film, FLF films.

Hit the image above of Jerry Dugan going over the FLF library to get an shred flick education.

"YES" we do spend way to much time on VBS.TV

May 1996 this shot changed the game for not only snowboarding but also for Ingemar Backman and Pierre Wikberg. Watching it now still gives us goose bumps.

On Set WIth 8 Mile

While shredding up at Big White we ran in to Johnny Lyall who is one of the brains behind 8 Mile. With one episode of 8mile TV already live and the fans screaming for more he was up there filming buddy Kale Stephens for the next installment.

Make sure you keep up to date with the 8 Mile crew as you never know who you might see, hopefully it is not your girlfriend.

Nixon Jibfest

Back when not every second contest was a jib or rail event Nixon worked with their riders (JP, Jeremy and Downing) to create the Nixon Jibfest. It was a rider run event that was canceled before it got played out.

Mack Dawg
produced the movie that features an all star lineup of riders that unfortunately will never all shred together again. You can still buy a copy of the movie on their site you just have to decide DVD or VHS.

We here at SITW have a copy but need to find the VHS player, so until we dig it out from under the stairs we are going to settle for the You Tube version.

Check out Part 2 and Part 3 then go buy it as you will be owning a piece of shred history.

Wait Till You See It

SITW friend Jan dropped by today and gave us a preview of the new Videograss teasers. There was two versions and both make you want to shred, drink beer and stop taking snowboarding so seriously. This film is at the top of the must see list for September.

The teasers will be hitting the www soon so keep checking videograss.com

Sony VX-1000

Another example of snowboarding taking inspiration from skateboarding can be found in the form of the Sony VX-1000 video camera. Sure we are in the HD world now but many a great shred flick was filmed on this bad boy. With a 3CCD or 3 chip as many would drop when talking cameras and the ability to fit the widest fish eye on the market no wounder many a film guy jumped on this camera.

Like so many items today this camera is making a retro comeback for the films that want a raw, non slow mo, keeping it real feel. Sure it isn't HD but when a hammer is dropped who cares about format.

Hit ebay now and pick one up as like anything these days once the blog world gets on the board prices will go up.

Check out the Brainstorm teaser from 01/02, now who much was shot on a Vx-1000 who cares this is just an all time shred film.

Did You See Us

If you are a frequent Woods visitor a couple of months ago you would of read two posts, one about the "Hang" the other was asking you to "Spare A Thought". Well Sandbox have just dropped a new web video that was shot the same day we where lurking in the Blackcomb park.

Hit the image to check the video out and next time we will try a lot harder for some background props.

Next time you are skating to the lift line reflect on Jesse's part form Think Thank's Stack Footy movie.

Spare A Thought

As you watch this seasons shred flicks spare a thought for the unsung heroes who film all the action. They go through all the same as the riders except they don’t get to ride. When it comes to snowboarding with a backpack full of heavy and expensive equipment these guys are the experts. While they don’t know what it is like to travel with out excess baggage.

Here is Sandbox film guy Clayton Larsen on an easy equipment day in the Blackcomb park.

Heikki Sorsa Big In Japan

To help keep the positive vibe for many of us, as we wait to experience a powder turn for the first time this season, check out Redbullsnowboarding.com. They have a couple of behind the scenes videos of their team trip to Japan.

Powder and Japan just seem to go hand in hand.
