Our 2 Cents On The "B"

So we put on our premiere shoes and hit up the B movie tour stop in Sydney, Australia last night. The venue and view from the after party (see pic) was one of those reminders of how good Sydney has it sometimes.

This was actually the second time we got to see the B as we know some people who know some people who gave us a copy. Now the B was Burton's return to a team style snowboard flick, something they hadn't really done in over 10 years. This film had a fair bit of hype surrounding it especially when ex Mack Dawg guy Brad Kremer came on board to run the show, so it was interesting to notice that his name was missing from the credits.

Politics aside is this the Fully Flared of snowboarding like many of us hoped? The answer is No. Is a Fully Flared of snowboarding possible? Who knows, but if any company has the budget and the riders to pull it off I guess we all hoped it was Burton. They did build a 1000 tonne pile of snow in the shape of a B.

The "B" is a good snowboard film whether it be front boards or pow riding there is something for all, snowboarder or non snowboarder. However I guess this is the biggest problem the "B" has as it tries to be to many things to many people and the message tends to get lost. Maybe this is not just a movie issue but an issue that Burton as a brand finds itself at times.

So do we recommend seeing it? Of course there is some amazing snowboarding and cinematography you just have to witness Keegan Valaika's opening part to be blown away, the kid is next level. Plus it is a snowboarding movie and we need to support these films whether they are big bang productions like the B or small local produced movies. As with out a shred movie industry how can we see snowboarding progress?
