The Burton Australian Open halfpipe finals just concluded. It was a day of firsts for the Oz open, first back 1260 was landed and the first swich double back flip. Also the first year the sun didn't turn the pipe to a huge slurpee.
Mason Aguirre won the men's with Luke Matrani in second and Markus Malin in third. Luke landed the switch double back while Markus landed the back 1260. This is the first time these tricks have been landed on Australian soil in competition.
In the women's Hannah Teter beat out Paulina Ligocka and Jamie Anderson. It was a fun day at the Open with some crazy handplants being thrown down after the event. As well as even a couple of small pow turns this morning to get the legs warmed up. Let's hope the weather hangs on for the slopestyle tomorrow.
